Recap: The Golden Knights looked to stay perfect as they took on the Coyotes for a second straight game. Vegas didn’t wait long to get their offense going. Defenseman Shea Theodore and Alex Pietrangelo scored their first goals of the season making it a quick 2-0 Golden Knights lead. Marc-Andre Fleury was superb in the opening period preserving the two-goal edge.
Vegas continued to pressure Arizona in the 2nd period. The two teams swapped power plays but neither could capitalize on special teams. Mark Stone made it a three goal game with his second goal of the season. Max Pacioretty slipped a nice pass to Stone for a 3-0 advantage. Arizona scored their first goal late in the 2nd period to cut Vegas’ lead down to 3-1 after 40 minutes of action.
Up 3-1, the Golden Knights went right back to work offensively. Theodore scored his second of the night off a beautiful tic-tac-toe setup from Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith. Just over a minute later Alex Tuch gave Vegas a 5-1 lead on the power play. The Coyotes would get one back, but couldn’t get any closer.
With their 5-2 victory the Golden Knights remain undefeated and improve their record to (4-0) this season. The two teams will meet up again on Friday night in Arizona. Game is scheduled for 6 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: The Golden Knights have been working towards putting together their best game of the season and tonight they delivered it. They were opportunistic early when the game was fairly even and then took over as the game wore on. The power play still looks a bit anemic (tons of credit to ARI’s PK) but aside from that there’s not a ton to be upset with in the Golden Knights 4-0-0 start to the season. Especially considering the challenge of playing the same team in consecutive games. (Analysis by Ken)

For the first time in franchise history (been a while since I've gotten to type that), the Golden Knights are 4-0-0.

The Golden Knights have broken the Coyotes tonight. They look like they want to go home.

I'm not worried about the VGK power play because I've been so impressed with Arizona's PK. If it continues against others in the division, we can be concerned.

Please, as an arm chair QB, Kolesar belongs, or I’m a dumb ass. He’s big, intimidating, a skater, a team guy. WTF !!!! Either play him for a 10 game stretch or trade him, he looked good. We absolutely dominated Arizona. Stone is amazing, the real deal. We play hard, even with a 3 goal lead, that shows me something. Pietrangelo belongs too, he’s starting to jell. I’m impressed, our team works hard, we are not bums, we are Golden Knights !!

4-0 baby!!!! A more complete game. Another solid effort by MAF. If our goalies continue to keep teams to 2 goals or less, we’re going to win a lot of games! Work still to do on PP, but I think they will get that figured out. What a great day yesterday, all the way around!

As mentioned by Mark above Mark Stone was always good but when they put that C on his sweater he’s taken it to another level. One great and one funny play in the game last night. Whitecloud hand passes the puck through his legs backwards to save a goal never saw that before. Funny one Petro’s goal and they couldn’t find the puck with Kemper looking all through his equipment.
Mark
The Arizona defender flipped Pietrangelo’s puck into the stands, I watched the replay.

After seeing the gold jerseys twice now I’m all for ditching the home grey’s and making the gold one’s the default home jersey. With the white gloves it all just works. The white jerseys have always looked great.

Wasn’t a fan of the gold and/or red sweaters, at first when I heard about them coming, but I agree Tom. When I got a sweater in 2017, I went with the white (#5 of course), as I felt the “grey’s were dull. Now vs the new colors, they really seem dull!
