Recap: The 1st period was quiet in Los Angeles. Marc-Andre Fleury started in net and stopped all ten of the Kings’ shots. The Golden Knights went shorthanded once in the opening twenty minutes and successfully killed the penalty to keep the game a scoreless tie.
LA warmed up in the 2nd period. The Kings scored through heavy traffic jam in front of Fleury. Coach Pete DeBoer challenged goalie interference but the officials decided not to overturn the goal. On the ensuing power play, LA added to their lead. After 40 minutes the Kings held a 2-0 edge.
Tomas Nosek finally scored for the Golden Knights with three minutes left in the game. However, LA regained their two goal lead less than a minute later. Vegas finished had a lengthy 6-on-5 but couldn’t convert and lost 3-1 in Los Angeles.
Vegas’ record drops to 21-7-1 splitting their two-game set in Los Angeles. The Golden Knights get back on the ice tomorrow night when they host the St. Louis Blues. The game is scheduled for 7 PM PT. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: Missing Max Pacioretty the Golden Knights offense looked list for the first 50ish minutes of the game. They struggled on the power play and couldn’t get to the dangerous ice all night. Then, they turned it up a bit in the final 10 minutes but it was too little too late. It’s yet another example of how much this team needs scoring depth. But other than that, this loss is quite meaningless in the grand scheme of things. (Analysis by Ken)

No loss is meaningless it sets a poor example. They didn’t deserve to win – that’s not suggesting LA was any prize they were just better of the two. It certainly wasn’t much of a game on Vegas part passing wasn’t up to par and they forgot about screening LA goalie. They didn’t have any snap in their step and appeared to labor quite a bit. They had some chances but fanned on the shot or whatever. Onward up upward hopefully they come back tomorrow against the Blues. They are a much better team than they pdemonstrated this afternoon.

The 5 on 3 was a killer and to come back 2-1 and then give a breakaway was the final nail. Anyone can beat anyone on a given night thats hockey. Stone looked like a fish out of water without Patch there. Time to move on big game with the Blues tomorrow.

Good question obviously they can’t and obviously haven’t for some reason or another. They appear like they are unsure what yo do. These are opportunities they need to capitalize on , not only for the goal but sends a message to the opposition they can’t just bounce Vegas around. Seen as no threat that open the door to get all over Vegas as no worry about them scoring.

I played thru HS and club sport in college. If you look at my posts, they aren’t negative. Most of my replies, depending on the article, are about what I think VGK needs to compete for the Cup. That isn’t being negative. I’ve also commented on this being the weakest division in hockey. Again, that isn’t negative toward VGK. It’s basically starting a fact. What on my post above was negative?
The difference between me and other fans is that I’m a realist. I’m not blinded by my love of the team. If you look at the comments on here and Twitter, fans complain about missed calls and bad calls and it’s always one sided. I see the game as it is, missed/bad calls goes both ways and very seldom did it favor one team over the other

i have been playing this game since i was 7 had a pretty goog run won a state bantam championship and a national bantam championship in 1973 in st clair shores mich played in 2 minnesota state highschool hockey tourneys played divison 3 college for gustavus adolphus still play once a weak in the fall and winter let the season play out this is a damm good team with out a star number 1 center its tough to get a number 1 center the wild have been trying for years to get one number ones are not available that much these days when they are they get snatched up pretty fast sit back and enjoy the greatest game on earth

Jack Dugan 6’2″ 209 scored again yesterday 14 games 14 pts +6. Looks like he put on 25 lb. and means business ie. make the NHL ASAP. Could be something of an enforcer as well to go along with his superior play making.

The Kolesar waivers dilemna, right? 6’2″ 217 and can skate, however 24 games just 4 assists (couldn’t find the back of the net with numerous HD chances) and -4. Tempting to think Dugan could come in right now, however management knows better ie. he needs more AHL time.

You have to take into consideration who he is playing alongside. I don’t know if Dugan would fair any better. Kolesar has had several great chances and couldn’t put the puck in the back of the net…. but so have several other players

Hopefully Lehner plays great tonight. Perhaps one goalie or the other gets the upper hand so to speak and they go with one starter. Logan Thompson (waiting in the wings?) scored a shutout yesterday. I would not rule out some sort of deadline deal to get Mika Zibanejad (Ken’s #1 pick).

As for yesterday and needless to say, good teams don’t win every game and even if they nearly do like the Lightning did two seasons ago only to get swept in the first round, games are inevitably lost and not always to the strongest team.

Watched the highlights replay and with a couple posts hit and a number of great saves by the LA goaltender (Fleury had some too of course), the outcome could have gone the other way imo (VGK outshot LAK 42 to 31). Like I said, can’t win every game.

DeBoer brought in his buddy Steve Spott from SJ to run the PP, and he has done a poor job. yesterday the 5-on-3 showed the lack of PP success by Spott. Where are the close in shots? and where is the screen of the goalie, and rebounds, with a 2 man advantage? instead Spott has them blasting away from 40 feet with no screen.
VGK are 23rd in the league on the PP. even lowly Buffalo has a PP % 8 points higher. Vgk has scored only 16 PP goals all season, 4 by Pacioretty and 4 by Glass. William Karlsson and Shea Theodore, who both get lots of prime PP ice time, have each scored a grand total of ZERO PP goals !
and poor decision by DeBoer to challenge that first LA goal. It was obvious that he was not going to win that. Just handed LA another goal. oh, incidentally, LA has 27 PP goals, Vgk has 16.

There have been some who have questioned the wisdom of the Pacioretty trade a couple years ago. We saw last night just how valuable this guy is to the team and their chance of winning any game. VGK have two game changers – Pac and Stone. Without them, this could be a .500 team in a weak Division. Time to stop questioning Pac.

number 1 centers are hard to come by the wild have been looking for one for 15 years a few years back ryan johansen was the hot center everyone wanted look how that turned out he is average at best so you never know what you get chandler is fine he has good wheels kills penalties he backchecks and forechecks like crazy like i said before i think he prides himself in setting up patch and stone he wont score you 25-30 goals

WVU, Penn St, MD ate just a few Universities that play club hockey. And yes they’re have been some players who have made it professionally from playing club hockey….
