Recap: The Golden Knights traveled to Anaheim to take on the Ducks for the first game in five nights. Vegas showed some early rust and Anaheim was able to take the first lead of the game. Late in the opening period Alex Pietrangelo scored a much-needed goal to tie the game 1-1.

William Karlsson gave the Golden Knights the 2-1 2nd period lead with a highlight reel flip shot. It was Karlsson’s 4th goal of the season, and maybe his prettiest.

Anaheim tied the game on a controversial call in the 3rd. Coach Pete DeBoer challenged the goal for a missed high-stick whistle but the goal was confirmed and Vegas had to fight off a two-minute minor. After 60 minutes the game was locked at 2-2 and would need another five minutes to decide a winner. Karlsson scored the game-winner late in overtime to give his team a 3-2 victory.

With the win in overtime, the Golden Knights record improves to 12-4-1. Vegas hits the ice next on Monday night against the Minnesota Wild. Game is scheduled for 7 PM PT. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: The Golden Knights got off to a hot start early dominating the first portion of the game. But it tailed off in the 1st and they ended up tied at the intermission. A pair of incredible goals by William Karlsson was the difference in the end. Have to give Fleury a lot of credit for this one too. (Analysis by Ken)

MAF was off the hook, especially in OT, just awesome. Wild Bill, wow, that first goal blew my mind and that breakaway in OT, he’s so game, never throws in the towel. Pietrangelo with pinpoint accuracy with his goal, unbelievable angle. Good teams figure out a way to win, credit to the Ducks they never quit.

I enjoyed both games yesterday first the Silver Knights was very entertaining we’ve got some good kids down there. Kaedan Korczak and Pavel Dorofwyev stood out yesterday those two plus the play this year of Jack Dugan, Lucas Elvenes, and Paul Cotter, add Peyton Krebs among others bodes well for the Golden Knights future.
Last night a good win for the Golden Knights take them anyway you can get them. Anytime we play against John Gibson it’s a battle the goalie controls the game and for some reason when he plays us he’s always got his A game. Fans in the stands Monday is a good start hope by May they can increase that to 50% or more.

I did not see Dugan in the game and his stats still show only 8 games (9 pts). Must be injured? 2020 scouting report lists 6’2″ 185; Silver Knights roster lists 209. Really, he put on 24 lb.? I don’t doubt it and if so shows his committment to getting NHL ready. Impressive.

      • Tim

Pistol Pete your right he didn’t play injury or a maintenance day who knows. You watched the game it looks like Dorofeyev and Korczak who were mentioned repeatedly throughout the game are keepers.

        • Pistol Pete

Tim, possibly Dugan is on le the taxi squad unannounced? I recorded the game but not have been over it for any clarification of his status. Another fascinating possibility will be if Ivan Morosov comes over from the KHl this season to join the Silver Knights. According to Wikipedia, the KHL season was scheduled to end yesterday although I don’t know if that is current with the pandemic. Morosov is supposedly very speedy and 6’1”. I would say him and Dugan are the most immediate prospects for forward along with Elvenes.

          • Mike StG

Dugan was healthy scratched because of the way he had been talking to refs, per Vivieros. Should just be a one gamer, they just wanted to nip it in the bud and set him straight on that.

    ?

Karlsson scored the game-winner late in overtime to give his team a 3-2 victory.

With their 2-1 win in overtime, the Golden Knights record improves to 12-4-1.

MAF won that game for VGK. In pleased with that win but the defense still did not look very good. How many wideopen shits can we give up right in front of the goalie. Say what you want but right now there is no way this team should rotate goalies if/when Lehner returns.

This might just be me, but VGK had played one great game recently and that was the last game against COL, and that crucial because that is really the only good team they’ve faced, I think the only other team with a winning record

We can’t underestimate these so called weak teams. Three of Colorado’s six regulation losses came to the Ducks, Kings and the Wild. How weak are any of these teams? The Wild were “weak” and now look at them, one point out of first, on a six game streak, beating the Avs 6-2 in Denver.

      • Daryl

Maybe i should have said weaker teams than weak teams. We all know that any team can beat another, we are talking about professional players, but don’t kid yourself if you think ANA and those other teams are on the same playing field as VGK or COL. Also, having just a strong goalie doesn’t make you a good team. He might win you a game or keep you in a game but to be a good team you need multiple good lines and these so called “weak” teams I refer to do not.

Wild are on a hot streak but minus the one win against COL those wins came against ANA, SJS, and the Kings…. All of which are not really considered good teams.

How many teams have VGK played against teams with a winning record? As I said, they played great against COL last time out but their other win against them was when COL was out 5-7 players.

A win is a win and I’ll take it, I’m just ahead and a little worried.

    • Tim

Daryl as we’ve talked before John Gibson is a tuff out. I think you realize this any team can beat any team on a given night from top to bottom you can’t take any game for granted. Oh by the way wide open shits thats a classic. I don’t know if your from Pittsburgh but when I was in high school 60 years ago we used to go to Pittsburgh and play Pittsburgh North Catholic in basketball that was our big road trip.

      • Daryl

I’m from 75 miles south and they were the closest team for me to go and watch, and the inly team on local TV since we didn’t have cable.

  7. knights fan in minny

the wild are nothing fancy they work hard all 4 lines and the kid kirill is everything as advertised

  8. Julie

What was that business with Upick trade.com? Whose idea was that? It’s over now- VGK withdrew this weekend, but just wondering how that came about signing a partnership with a tour service.

    • Julie

      “tout” service

    • Pistol Pete

Aborting it best outcome, second best would have been forbidding the service to issue picks on VGK games. Glad they took care of this.

  9. NickatKnighttime

I had not noticed until this game that Karlsson is no longer using the Warrior Alpha QX stick (to which he attributed some of his season one success). He’s now using a CCM Jetspeed FT3 Pro. Anyone know when this happened?
