Recap: The Golden Knights started slowly again struggling to even get a shot on net in the 1st period. The first two Sharks shots both beat Lehner giving San Jose a 2-0 lead at the break.
Vegas’ struggles continued into the 2nd as they conceded again on a play in which Nic Hague ran into Zach Whitecloud leading to a 2-on-0 break.
Pete DeBoer shuffled the lines in the 3rd but that didn’t help either as the Sharks continued the scoring with a 4th goal.
The Golden Knights end the preseason with a record of 3-4-0, the worst in preseason in team history. Opening Night is next on Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: The Golden Knights stunk… again. Real games next, expecting much more from Vegas in that one than we’ve seen in these last two. (Recap by Ken)

Golden Knights looking quite lackadaisical to open the final preseason game. Been a recurring theme that hopefully disappears into thin air the moment the games start to count.

Blitz
Complete shit two games in a row! It means nothing. The real stuff starts Tuesday. Win that game and all will be forgiven and we move on from this hot garbage.
Richard Santomauro
My wife and I flew to San Jose for this one.
The team looked like it had no coach, no leadership and no goalie.
It was so awful that they canceled the post game practice shutout.
This edition looks uninspired and Lehner was terrible for most of the game minus the 2 on none breaker.
DeBoering is earning this moniker.
Julie
That’s unfortunate that you both flew out for the results you saw tonight. I keep hearing that preseason doesn’t count. Hopefully, they figure out what works and fast.
DC
Richard,
Same sort of experience here. I paid good money to watch the VGKs play in SLC. They looked slow and didn’t seem to care too much about that game. LA took it to them.
Justin
Granted it’s unwarranted to panic about the team …
But is it too early to panic about the goalie?
How many times do we need to the goalie give up a couple softies to start the game? It has been an incredibly consistent movie that I sure am tired of watching. Every goalie we’ve seen so far this preseason from the other teams, and 2 from vgk have looked better than #90.
Richard Santomauro
Between the 1st and 2nd period they announced a practice shoot out after the game. When the final horn sounded the Knights all skated to the locker room in shame.
Julie
We just gotta look on the bright side…… Fleury had a good game, the Rangers won….hold on, let me put this doobie down…I can’t type and smoke at the same time…as I was saying…we got the Bear, wait, the Seal, no wait a second…if he lost all the weight, isn’t he the Otter now?
Yeah, that’s it, Otter Man…. It’s ok, we got the Twitter guy. I gotta bounce, I need some pancakes…
THE hockey GOD

Blitz
LOL! Excellent Julie! Go get some pancakes. I want some pancakes.
goalie trade
Total disgrace. Not only was it the worst preseason record in team history, but they looked like shit in most of the games.
The clubhouse lawyer/sieve was 0-3 in the preseason, and daddyrot was shit as usual. just think, $10 Million of wasted cap space on those 2 clowns.
Vic
Let’s hope midway through the preseason coach told the players to take it easy, don’t show your cards, don’t hit anyone, don’t shoot, if you do shoot don’t hit the net, goalies should try not to save every puck, and try not to get hurt. If the above is not true, then ‘looks like we’re in for nasty weather’.
I checked in on a half dozen other non-VGK preseason games the past few weeks, and while there were blown up lines and injuries, what I saw was PASSION. Whether it was passing, checking, a few fights, and blocked shots, the players showed PASSION. Yes indeed, PASSION was missing for the VGK, and let’s hope it returns quickly.
THE hockey GOD
told you all MAF’s agent is a piece of shit
Daryl
Yeah it sucks to have an agent stick up for his client and tell it like it is
THE hockey GOD
he stabbed VGK in back, and hurt his client’s credibility and value in process.
Daryl
Lol his agent stabbed VGK in the back???? Yeah that’s one delusional way to look at it. I guess that is what you call not bending over and taking it without lube
THE hockey GOD
now we know why they didn’t get a draft pick or a reasonable player for MAF, thanks to his piece of shit agent. He’s no good.
Daryl
The reason VGK got nothing for MAF is b/c your loved FO f@cked up… That’s it. It’s that simple
Blitz
I see no issue with MAF or his agent. I do see an issue with another goalie that can’t STFU or stop a puck, for that matter.

McPhee says the Golden Knights purposely stopped communicating with Marc-Andre Fleury and allowed him to learn about the trade on Twitter after Allan Walsh started trying to “sabotage the trade” by telling teams he might retire.
You see no reason to sabotage a trade and hurting VGK in process ?!
Blitz
None, zero, zip. MAF wanted to stay in Vegas and his agent was trying to make it happen. He wasn’t trying to find him another happy team. He’s an agent. His job is to be a shady piece of shit to get things done for his player. I have zero problem with this.
THE hockey GOD
It’s not the agent’s job to find MAF another team, that is VGK’s role. How is lying about MAF retiring furthering his value and credibility ? His agent is a piece of shit. This action and his back stabbing cartoon proves MAF is not a team player and is out only for himself; since his agent represents MAF, MAF has no excuse.. His lies about “wanting to stay in VEgAS” and “retiring” have exposed both as lying POS(s). They did no favors to the VGK, their fans, the FO, or hockey in general. Very unprofessional all around. They are both evil, MAF is double faced liar and is his agent.
Blitz
What? “It’s not the agent’s job to find MAF another team”. No shit! That is exactly opposite what he needed to do. He needed to stop Vegas from finding another team. Its clear that Fleury thought about retiring when he was traded, so why was it a lie to tell teams he might retire? I am guessing Fleury said he was going to retire if he gets traded.
Sorry I am not “offended” by the back stabbing photo. I thought it was hilarious…and true.
I think you hate Fleury (as you have made clear to everyone for months) and this is just another chance to rant about him. So have at it. Billy buckner, billy buckner, billy buckner.
THE hockey GOD
“MAF wanted to stay in Vegas and his agent was trying to make it happen” by backstabbing , pissing off FO, and saying MAF wanted to retire ? I don’t think so.
” think you hate Fleury” Dope I was one of his biggest fans and stood up for him when they traded for wiggy biscuit, but I soured on MAF because he was paid SEVEN MILLION a year, he didn’t get the job done for every year he was her and this last playoff run was last straw. I along with thousands of fans gave him the benefit of the doubt for the longest time. But he plain didn’t get the job done. Then he and his agent decided to play games with VGK franchise (he whined and cried like a baby when he wasn’t getting playing time),he played VGK front office, the VGK fans. MAF and his agent are no good liars and evil.

” think you hate Fleury” Nope I was one of his biggest fans and stood up for him when they traded for wiggy biscuit, but I soured on MAF because he was paid SEVEN MILLION a year, he didn’t get the job done for every year he was here and this last playoff run was last straw.

Just because you say it twice doesn’t make it right. LOL
FYI – VGK loses to MIN and loses to AVS last year without Fleury. So saying its his fault that the team took a shit during the MTL series doesn’t paint the whole picture that this team should have been out in the 1st.
Daryl
You have no idea if MAF would have retired if he was sent to a teamike Buffalo. It was a viable option (retirement) especially after VGK FO stabbed him in the back by trying to trade him.
And the comments from the FO confirmed what most of us believed… The admitted they stopped talking to MAF. But what about all the crap the FO said about telling MAF this and that? Since now they just admitted to not talking to him. They got caught in their own lie lol
THE hockey GOD
@Daryl he had seven million reasons not to retire, there was no way his wife would let him throw seven million down the toilet.
THE hockey GOD
i said it twice to fix the typos in first post
“Just because you say it twice doesn’t make it right. LOL”
“FYI – VGK loses to MIN and loses to AVS last year without Fleury. So saying its his fault that the team took a shit during the MTL series doesn’t paint the whole picture that this team should have been out in the 1st.” Spin out on point I was trying to make. My point goes beyond this and has more to do with off ice actions.
>>>seven million dollar man didn’t get job done during his time in Vegas. He and his agent SABOTAGED the VGK and their fan base:
1- the back stabbing cartoon, he and his agent were complaining about Fleury not getting playing time. Proving he is a not a team player. This was first straw for me.
2- he blew the montreal series with his gaffe costing the team valuable momentum that they team could never over come. This was second straw for me, but it has little to do with what he and his agent did next.
3- there after the team told him that he would likely be traded, right after the playoff series ended. Co GM GM tweets confirm this.
4- so he and his agent decided to concoct a scheme saying he would retire, thereby diminishing his trade value, hurting the franchise and the VGK fan base in process. Obviously Fleury never had any intent to retire, nor retire in Vegas. His actions prove that because he’s still playing.
5- After the trade he and agent come out with a tweet that VGK didn’t tell him and he had to find out via twitter completing ignoring the fact that he and his agent tried to SABOTAGE the VGK by telling teams that Fleury may retire. Now Mcphee comes out with what really happened and we all know why. How does telling teams that a player is going to retire help increase that player’s trade value ? (it doesn’t)
None of Fleury ,or his piece of shit Agent actions, are ON THE VGK’s FO. It’s all on them, according to sequence of events. I soured on Fleury right after his back stabbing cartoon came out. That was crass and unprofessional. The entirety of his actions cost the VGK a player , a draft pick, or a player and a draft pick. Any real fan can see that, they would be ticked off about it.
Wonder what happens now with no. 67, more games ??
Daryl
How much is Stone getting? Did he get the job done? How much are those on PP1 and PP2 etting? Did they get the job done???
Yeah, isn’t think so. Come back with something new
THE hockey GOD
@Daryl I don’t recall STone/agent whining about playing time, putting out cartoon back stabbing the organization, or putting goals into his own net.
Blitz
“Soured on”, because of a picture. Sticks and stones man, stop being offended by stupid shit. You are better than this.
FYI – Fleury scored just as many PP goals as the entire team that series. That’s pretty damn good for a goalie.
Daryl
Come on Blitz, we all know this is an individual sport and MAF single handedly lost the entire playoffs by himself. It is said though when a $7m goalie scores as many PP goals as you $50m PP unit
Arnold Rothstein

So, they lied to the fans about the MAF trade, lies always find a way to exposure. I received email as a season ticket holder that they didn’t do it. Turns out that they did and now are even brazen about it.
THE hockey GOD
that they didn’t do what ?? The MAF situation was over come by events, namely MAF’s own representative. His agent ! So MAF and hence his agent lied about retiring ?? You can’t have it both ways.
SinBin.vegas
@SinBinVegas
McPhee says the Golden Knights purposely stopped communicating with Marc-Andre Fleury and allowed him to learn about the trade on Twitter after Allan Walsh started trying to “sabotage the trade” by telling teams he might retire.
Daryl
But wait…. Didn’t the FO say him learning about the trade on Twitter was lie? Now they are backtracking. They just got caught in their own lie.
Even you called MAF and his agent liars when they said they found out on Twitter. Mic Drop!!!
THE hockey GOD
@Daryl it was a lie, because his agent knew Fleury was being traded and started lying about Fleury wanting to retire. Seven million dollars and his actions said that was a lie too. AFter the montreal series the FO even told them that he was going to be moved. So Fleury/agent knew it, or they wouldn’t have SABOTAGED the FO by starting rumor that Fleury was going to retire. That line of thought doesn’t hold any water.
Daryl
Still doesn’t change the fact that the FO said they told MAF/agent and now they are backtracking and saying they didn’t tell them. They were caught in their own lie.
But you can keep defending this trash FO all you want. More and more people see them for who they really are. There are only a few defenders like yourself left
Richard Santomauro
This back and forth about the “dirty sword graphic” and whether or not an agent and his client have a right to try and sway a trade is all nonsense. No one is going to change their position on this. THE-h-G has made up his mind, and the rest of us have made up our own minds.
I am of the opinion that the agent works on the behalf of his client, period! End of discussion for me. If sending out a dirty graphic, or coming out and considering retirement as a position to influence the team’s decision then that’s all a part of the game.
Daryl and I, and some others believe that both sides did what was in their best interests. In our opinion, only one side LIED ABOUT IT, and their is nothing that THE-h-God can post to make us think differently.
I also have been consistent in my position that the Panda is going to fall flat on face again here in Vegas, just like he has everywhere else. His last few appearances have been awfully inconsistent.
I still predict that Brossoit will be our #1 goalie by mid-January if not sooner.

It’s OK “The hockey Turd” …. too much Billy Buckner bouncing around in your head 18 hours a day ….
F.O. wears their lies with pride on their sleeve …. not going to get down on ya for being deceived …
THE hockey GOD
@CT it is the fan base that is being deceived. We were lied too, but it was by Fleury / agent duo.
Richard Santomauro
I am predicting a Kraken blow out tomorrow night right here in this post. I will certainly eat my words if that doesn’t happen. But, from what I have seen of this post season, VGK is not ready for the season. They didn’t have a single tune up game with all of the regulars and Lehner has looked like shit in all of his appearances.
If the Kraken score 3 or more goals in the first period I will personally start the “Bring Back Fleury” chant.
Richard Santomauro
I meant to say preseason. The preseason has been awful for VGK with very little to cheer about. I have high hopes for both Brossoit and Patrick.
Blitz
I agree that I don’t think VGK is ready to play after having watched most of the preseason, but maybe it’s all attitude and maybe it being for real this game will spark some needed fire.
Really hoping to see a better VGK team tomorrow. I don’t want to lose to Seattle and give them a win game 1 of the franchise. Where the hell is mark stone? I hope he finds his game again ASAP. What is happening with the injured players? What are the lines gonna be? Shit’s keeping me awake at night, not really, but I am very excited.
I don’t want to predict a loss. Trying to be positive and say Vegas brings a rusty, but improving game that is good enough to beat a new team. Fingers crossed.
War Knight!
Richard Santomauro
Any word on Reaves leg injury.
Tim
I’m a little confused I thought games 6 and 7 were suppose to be tuneups for the regular season. Obviously still looking at rookies in games 6 and 7 shows me they changed there plans. Anyway you cut it we still were shutout so between the Arizona game and San Jose game we gave up 7 goals and scored 1 with our #1 goalie in net. That’s 120 minutes with 1 goal so you’d have to say the experiment failed.
Are they better now then the Misfit year you be the judge. What I’m curious to watch this year is Nosek and Haula playing for Boston and my favorite David Perron and James Neale playing for St. Louis that will be interesting TV. I guess you can through Gallant and Reeves in New York and I’ll pile on with Fleury in Chicago more interesting TV. The way I see it we take 2 steps forward and 1 step back every year and I’m not sure what progress were making. I would think losing the above mentioned players our locker room can’t be as united as it once was. To me there not the Golden Knights anymore there a bunch of Prima Donna’s that have gotten fat and slow living off our Misfits reputation. To me this Krebs, Patrick among other forwards aren’t going to get the job done. Our defense at full strength looks good and Lehner is scaring me as our #1 goalie. Prediction we win the Pacific and make an early out in the playoffs because of lack of firepower.
Richard Santomauro
You mean 1 forward 2 back. It’s preseason but the lack of scoring, goal tending, and zero passion is alarming. If nothing changes we won’t even make the playoffs!
Tim
No Richard I did mean two forward the likes of picking up Stone and Stephenson were two steps forward losing Perron is one step back. Patch and @Suzuki a wash I guess but long tern Montreal got us. Now Gallant, Reeves, Fleury, Haula, Nosek. the scrip still has to be written could be 2 steps forward 3 steps back who knows. I do know this is not the team we loved call it progress or what ever you want but there pretenders not contenders and that’s how i see it. To come out in the final two games which were season warmups and score one goal and tell us it doesn’t matter is beyond logic.
on further review
no, they are NOT better than the team in season 1
and the reason is the fact that the team in season 1 had great ATTITUDE, DESIRE, HUSTLE, WORK ETHIC, LEADERSHIP, and TEAMWORK.
this years team is an unmotivated bunch of complacent fat cats.
Tim
Amen to that!!
Dry
Exactly!
DC
Another amen. Player buy-in to a franchise, city, and its fans creates the energy that drives players to win it all. Without this, most guys are just playing for a paycheck.
Daryl
With all the great ayers out there, people ask me all the time why my favorite player is/wad Engo. It’s because he played the game for the love of it. He would take a 1yrbase sary contract just to play the game. He played with heart. The guys today have no heart. They have no pride. As you said, they are playing for a paycheck
Richard Santomauro
I still like our Misfit Line and Theodore. We also have some new players who have an opportunity to prove themselves. Stephenson plays with heart, but I haven’t seen Stone or Patches live up to expectations consistently.
I also have high hopes for Reilly Smith. He’s going to be looking to be paid after this season, so I think he’s going to up his game. I have always like the heart on that 2nd line.
Our goalie is more focused on medical justice activism than playing hockey. God bless him because if true, it’s a good thing to expose. I just wish he was doing it as a Sabre or Blackhawk.
Blitz
I’ll say it again (probably again and again). Everything since the Turk firing has been down hill. Talk all you want about Deboer being a great coach etc etc, but I see a team with no heart and a 5×5 offense that looks like their shit power play. Any player with a personally has been sent packing. Now your team is a Deboer robot team. The guy is about as dry as the “Bueller, Bueller, Bueller” guy.
Reminding myself its preseason (and that Lehner is a good goalie, so others say).
Contact Tracer
CURSE OF THE MISFITS …. the dismantling of a gift and replacing it with a turd is always a bad decision …
Mike
Let me guess…Kenny and Jason do a podcast bashing on VGK about how the off-season moves don’t seem to be working out and that we should be concerned. We are all wanting to hear some positives going in to the season but you guys don’t have that in you…
Daryl
I get people are tired of all the negative comments…. but in your opinion what can be said that is positive thus far? I’ve seen one addition to this team that has looked good at times.
Richard Santomauro
Actually Patrick Brown played extremely well only to be placed on waivers where he was picked up by PHI. Good for him. That player should be playing in the NFL!
Krebs has shown some spark now and then, but not enough to earn a spot in my opinion. He’s still got great potential and is worth developing.
Nolan Patrick is the one player who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. I like the way he plays and given a chance he will start racking up points.
I am not overly impressed with either Dadanov or Howden.
Brossoit was a great surprise. I didn’t expect much out of him, but he’s shown that he’s ready to take over the goalie duties when Lehner eventually falls flat and loses his job. Logan Thompson in the wings makes us pretty deep at the position despite the loss of last year’s Vezina winner.
I am hoping that the Misfit line will pile up more goals and points than the 61/20/67 line. Youth is on their size and Smith will be looking to up his game as he comes up for a new contract.
I am hoping that Miromanov will find his way onto the roster. I think this guy has a great NHL future.
Very disappointed to see Brown moving on.
Daryl
I didn’t count Brown since he was picked up off waivers. I really liked him and was hoping he would get a chance to prove himself a little more. He looked good when he was given the chance.
Nolan Patrick was the one positive I saw. I’m not sure how good he will be or exactly where he will fit in, but he did look good… at least he was in the right spot at the right time. We’ll see soon enough
Richard Santomauro
I meant NHL, not NFL! Keyboard slip.
