Recap: The Golden Knights got off to another quick start against the Avalanche in their second preseason matchup. Vegas forward Keegan Kolesar scored 3:26 into the game and last week forward Patrick Brown gave his team the early 1-0 advantage 2:07 in the first period. Defenseman Alec Martinez doubled the lead late in the first period for the Golden Knights.
The offense picked up for both teams as each registered two goals in the second period. William Karlsson and Reilly Smith scored for Vegas in the middle frame.
The Golden Knights took a 6-2 lead in the third period after Martinez scored his second of the game and Peyton Krebs added his first goal of the preseason. Colorado worked to get within two but Jake Leschysyn sealed the game with a late empty net goal.
The Golden Knights boost their preseason record to (3-2) with their 6-4 win in Colorado. Vegas will next play the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: It was one of those preseason games where both teams decided to throw caution to the wind and have some fun trying to score goals. Tons of chances, lots of odd-man breaks, etc. Fun to watch for fans, the worst for coaches. Peyton Krebs was awesome too. (Recap by Ken)

I'm all for power play goals in the preseason, but let's be honest, if they go 0 for 2 on Opening Night, we're all going to panic immediately.

VGK goalies have been really good through this entire preseason.

Preseason Pietrangelo is really starting to look like Postseason Pietrangelo.
He's so active offensively and it draws so much attention that it makes life easier on whoever is out there with him. Love it.

Petro and Martinez looked sharp. Whitecloud’s best game.
Hard to believe that the announcers were talking now about Krebs actually making the roster?
Richard Santomauro
Who doesn’t see that the increased goal scoring is directly attributed to the new cross-checking rule?
THE hockey GOD
best part of broadcast was
1- silver state plumbing commercial followed by
2- great american pub
3- the anti lawyer lawyer commercial (the worst is that window commercial and uneducated kid telling you about water conservation)
The question of day is when will VGK put wiggy biscuit on waivers or IR and give a job to Thompson, who didn’t have that bad of game
Richard Santomauro
The fact that wiggy biscuit has gone full blown activist and off the rails before the first game tells me all I need to know. We’re lucky to have Brossoit and Thompson. Very deep at goal.
Krebs did look a lot better last night. Possibly hope for him after all. Patrick is a good fit. Lechyshyn showed some great pop on the ice.
I still have yet to see Howden or Dadanov step up their game … yet.
The Misfit line looked pretty good even with Carrier on the line. Hope he didn’t get it in the eye anywhere!
THE hockey GOD
follow up thought of day, I don’t believe the announcers mentioned wiggy biscuit mental issues once during the whole broadcast, so much for that ‘story’.

wiggy biscuit thats a classic

great offensive night for Krebs…..did Krebs make the team? or did he just enhance his trade value? just Jackin’ around 🙂
also, don’t forget the 2 PP goals by the Avs while Krebs was sitting in the penalty box. just sayin’
Richard Santomauro
Yeah, those two holding calls seem to be related to the fact that he may need time to bulk up a bit more. Could be a liability, but he still may provide good offensive service on that 4th line and power play.
I think he has a lot of upside and trading him at this point should not be considered. I would like to see him on the 4th line and power play this year.

A trade of Sabres star Jack Eichel could happen “soon,” reports Darren Dreger of TSN
Per Dreger, “ongoing discussions and additional access” to Eichel’s medical records has “helped teams with trade interest clearly see his situation,” with both sides “hopeful” a trade could be worked out soon.
One thing to note with any potential trade is that the Sabres must take back some salary of their own. The team would be under the salary cap floor without Eichel’s $10MM hit, meaning it can’t just be prospects and picks coming back.
My guess is that the NY Rangers will be first in line for Eichel
Richard Santomauro
I hope we are not in the Eichel sweepstakes.
THE hockey GOD
rangers are most often mentioned as trading partner.

Observations, First I must say our D-core is very good and deep. Next I’m not a Kolesar fan but I have to give credit where credit is due he’s looking better every game. Peyton Krebs makes some great passes needs to stay out of the box. I thought we played very well and were swarming Colorado all night long. If it wasn’t for there PP it would have looked much worse. Losing there #2 goaltender is a big loss and the way Kemper has injury issues I’ll bet they in panic mode today. Hopefully Roy and Theadore are back soon McNabb out doesn’t hurt as much with our Blue line depth. Bad time for Howden to get hurt didn’t really get a feel for him although he looked good on the PK. Speaking of the PK there trying a lot of different combo’s not worried once the season starts. Looks like we moving better on our PP couldn’t be much worse then last year. Finally for you posters who don’t think we’ll win the Pacific I’d say don’t put to much money on it.
THE hockey GOD
@Tim, McNab seems to be only hitter left on team. I don’t like the way the other teams’ forwards are always bashing our D men into the boards in out own head. Whitecloud seems to get worst of it. Our forwards hardly do the same in return when they go into the O zone.
vgk21
I watched Miramonov specifically last night to see how he did at the defensive end of the rink.
He did fine, in fact he was better than most in checking his man, taking the puck away, and moving the puck out of the zone.
Coghlan looked ok too, but NOT on the PK. he looked very weak on preventing the cross crease pass on the PK, and on blocking any passes or shots on the PK
THE hockey GOD
vk21, i liked miramonov better than coghlin, i dont’ think they fit well together. Two O d men ? Even though they may need more time as a duo. As a coach I don’t think they are a good match.
But what do i know ?

NOT MUCH! LOL.
