VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4 NASHVILLE PREDATORS 3 (12-11-4 28 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights took the first lead of the game on a nice shot by Mark Stone. The winger gave his team an important early lead by scoring his 11th goal of the season. Malcolm Subban shutout the Predators in the 1st period stopping all twelve shots.

Reilly Smith would give Vegas a 2-0 edge with his 11th goal of the season. Unfortunately. Nashville would respond less than a minute later to cut the lead in half. The Predators would add another 2nd period goal to tie the game 2-2.

Matt Duchene broke the tie 1:23 into the 3rd period giving the home team a 3-2 lead. Vegas tried to get back in the game, even having a late power play. However, Max Pacioretty scored an exciting last second game tying goal. The Golden Knights forced an overtime period. Vegas would go on to win 4-3 in OT on a game winner by Paul Stastny.

Vegas’ record improves to (12-11-4) and remain in the wild card hunt. The Golden Knights get back to work on Friday afternoon against the Arizona Coyotes. Puck drop is scheduled for 3PM.

Happy Thanksgiving from SinBin! (Recap by Jason)

Analysis:  The Golden Knights played a very good 1st period taking care of the puck and creating plenty of chances. But, things fell apart in the 2nd as they forgot how to defend against an activated defenseman. However, a magical moment from Pacioretty and then a fluky 2-on-0 in OT sent Vegas into the holiday on a high. (Analysis by Ken)

Golden Knights Deployed New Defensive System Against Nashville

Exciting finish! and they finally got an OT win. Knights got a last second reprieve from the governor. Now let’s see a real winning streak of 5 or 6 games. One and done won’t cut it.

  2. That was the most exciting regular season game ever, just ahead of Nate Schmidt’s game winner against The Cap’s last year. Don’t give up on our guys, we are not bums, we earn our wins. Patches, Stone, Stansny, Marchy, Karlsson, Tuch, Carrier, Reaves, Schmidt, etc… I’m never giving up !!!!!!! Never !!!!!!!!!!

    • I don’t think it’s a case of giving up as much as disappointment. They have the capacity to win but just appear to lack the desire and killer instinct which they displayed in the the past.

Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the room another blown lead and feelings of doom. Then Stone to Max with 0.3 left prevented the swoon. The faithful envisioned another dismal OT, but then Schmitty to Stas made us jump and scream Yippee. Now the boys have to use this win to change the season around as some of the problems are of the mental variety.

Gallant must be reading the comments here, because he changed the defensive zone coverage, just as a couple commenters have been demanding here quite often. Reilly Smith said so in his interview.

The dmen were not chasing all over, but were staying home in front of the net. However, there were a couple bad glitches in the new system, because the forwards did not do their job correctly on the Nashville goals. The wingers are supposed to cover the opposing dmen at the point, and to STAY with them no matter where they go in the dzone. That did not happen, as Stone and others just stood there and then the Vgk dmen had to leave their man in front to pick up the puckcarrier. That left the Nashville guys wide open in front of the net for easy goals.

Josi and Ellis took advantage of the failure of the Knights wingers to do their job properly. It better get ironed out quick, because the dmen should not have to leave their man and their position to do the wingers’ job.

As my wife and I were watching the game I said it’s doing to be a long flight home from Nashville with another loss. By the grace of God something finally went our way and in the most dramatic fashion we pulled out a win and the boys I’m sure had a nice flight home. We still don’t play 60 minutes of hockey and with Arizona’s speed we’ll be tested again tomorrow night.
