Vegas tried to get back on track in LA for a Saturday matinee. The Golden Knights would be awarded an early power play but the Kings would steal the puck and the lead. LA took an early 1-0 edge on a short-handed goal, and the Kings would add another taking advantage of their own PP opportunity. Arch nemesis Drew Doughty got credit for sneaking one past Malcolm Subban. The Kings held a 2-0 advantage after one period of play.
Max Pacioretty would get his team on the board in the 2nd period by deflecting a puck past Jonathan Quick. The one goal deficit wouldn’t last long as the Kings scored their third of the game a minute and a half later to take a 3-1 lead. Thankfully, Jonathan Marchessault brought the lumber and slapped a bomb past Quick. Late in the 2nd period William Karlsson would equalize the game on a nice chip pass by Pacioretty. Through 40 minutes the Golden Knights came roaring back with three goals in the 2nd period.
Both teams battled to break the tie for most of the 3rd period. A tip by Jeff Carter found its way through Subban and gave the Kings the eventual game winner.
Vegas’ record continues to drop 9-9-3 and are stuck on 21 points for the third straight game. Luckily, the Golden Knights get a chance to make up those points tomorrow at home against the Calgary Flames. Puck drops at 4PM. (Recap by Jason)

Of all the losses, that one might be the cruelest of them all. Just couldn't muster up the chance that beat Quick in the 3rd, and the one really good chance LA got found a hole. The frustration rolls on.

Golden Knights capitalized on that one!!!
Weird bounce off the back wall, Vegas is first to it and Karlsson BURIED it.
We. Are. Tied.

Home teams always blow 2 goal leads.
Right? Seems to be pretty common in games I've been at recently.

lottery team
pos Eakin loses the faceoff, then loses his man, Carter, who tips it in. game over.
They just lost to 3 of the weakest teams in the league, Det, Chi, and LA….
let’s face facts. This team is just too SLOW to win in today’s NHL.
other than a few guys, the rest of the team are slow or barely average NHL level skaters.
and they play a system, man-to-man, designed for speedy teams. It just won’t work, and Gallant is trying to put square pegs into a round hole.
Plus, they gotta get a backup goalie. This is ridiculous. They have 4 wins and 15 losses with their backup in net since the beginning of last season. pathetic.
and Stastny’s backchecking slowness, like on LA goal 1, is also a big problem. $6.5 mill cap hit. combined with Eakin, they have a huge problem at center with $10.3 mill wasted cap space on 2 slow, declining veteran players.
they are more likely to finish in the cellar than a playoff spot…. UNLESS MAJOR CHANGES in system and personnel are made very soon.

Little bit of an overreaction there. First, the team is NOT too slow. They’re as fast or faster than in the first year. They won because they played fast, which many teams have since copied. Second, can’t put this on Subban – this happens with Fleury in net as well. Third, I agree that Eakin should probably be on L4, not Top 9 the way he’s playing. Same goes for Nosek. Roy is better and has some offensive upside.
I think it needs to be remembered that there are 2 rookies playing regularly, so at any given time you might have 40% of your skaters on ice that are rookies. They need to develop, gain confidence, learn from mistakes, and also develop playing chemistry with the veterans. If they don’t turn things around in the next 6-8 weeks then some trades at deadline will be unavoidable. Until then we just need to have some patience.

Subban is HORRIBLE…
