Recap: The Golden Knights took on the Dallas Stars for the second game of a back to back. Malcolm Subban got the nod in net for Gerard Gallant’s club.
The Stars scored the only goal late in the 1st period. Vegas struggled to get much going offensively, only mustering up 7 shots in the opening frame. Dallas spent much of the period in Vegas’ zone but were only able to get one past Subban.
William Karlsson tied the game early in the 2nd period on his 10th goal of the season. Newcomer Chandler Stephenson gave Vegas the lead with his second goal in a Golden Knights uniform.
Subban and his defense shut down Dallas’ offense for most of the 3rd period. Vegas fought off a mid-period penalty to hold the one goal advantage. The Stars would eventually tie the game 2-2 late in the final period forcing an overtime period.
Max Pacioretty won the game 3-2 in overtime with a beautiful backhand deke on Dallas goalie Ben Bishop.
Vegas’ record improves to 17-13-5, splitting their two game road trip. The team will head back home to take on the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 5PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: After an absolutely horrific 1st period the Golden Knights turnedit around in a big way in the 2nd. They controlled play and went from struggling to exit their own zone to doing it with ease. Their puck support was significantly better in the final 40 minutes but they were unable to reach the finish line with the lead. They looked much better in overtime for the minute they played creating a few chances, forcing turnovers, and catching Dallas on a bad change to win the game.(Analysis by Ken)

That's a hell of a win for the Golden Knights on the road on the 2nd night of a B2B.
Tons of adversity in the 1st, they come out and play a wonderful 2nd, then overcome a bit more adversity in the 3rd. Well earned 2 points in a tough building to get them.

Tale of 2 periods. As bad as Vegas was in the 1st, they were that good in the 2nd. Unbelievably good period in all aspects.

You could make an entire highlight reel on the importance of puck support just from these first two periods.
The difference, especially in the D-zone, it is unbelievable. Seems like 2 completely different teams.

Offside
VGK 6
DAL 1Icing
VGK 5
DAL 0VGK struggling to get out of their own zone and to get into the offensive one. That is not a recipe for success.

Great game, just amazing !! At the end, after Patches scored, Mark Stone saw a little kid wearing a VGK jersey, the kid waved at Stone then Stone gave the kid his stick, just lifted it over the glass. Cool moment. That’s why we love hockey and we love The Knights.

It’s great to win fortunately the second team showed up – the real golden knights. Like you said two entirely different teams. Bush league bunch and professional talented individuals all in the same uniform. Not sure what the solution is other than pride and a killer instinct which they are perfectly capable of.
