In the Golden Knights’ 82 games this season, they used a total of 108 different forward line combinations. 23 forwards, Dylan Coghlan, and Daniil Miromanov comprised the 25-man group contributing to them.
In 52 different instances, a forward line was used just a single time. This included wacky combinations like Pacioretty-Kolesar-Stone, Baertschi-Leschyshyn-Janmark, Krebs-Patrick-Dadonov, and Rondbjerg-Brooks-Kolesar. It doesn’t include the seven times the Golden Knights used just 11 forwards and were left with only three full lines to start the game.
On the flip side, there were just four line combos that were rolled more than 10 times. They were Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith, who saw 40 appearances together, Pacioretty-Stephenson-Stone who got 22 games as a line, Janmark-Roy-Dadonov and Janmark-Roy-Kolesar who were used 12 and 11 times respectively.
In other words, very rarely would players see the same linemates over an extended period of time. And most of the time, it was unique to see the same three guys on a line in back-to-back games.

Keegan Kolesar, Mattias Janmark, Evgenii Dadonov, and Nic Roy were the most shuffled-around players on the season. Unsurprisingly, each of the four struggled to find any level of offensive consistency.
Janmark’s 29 different lines in 67 games is almost unfathomable. Especially when compared to William Karlsson who played the same number of games and saw just 11 different line combos.
Obviously, injuries played a major factor in the massive line shuffle throughout the season. And while we are quick to excuse away the seasons of those who missed heaps of games, maybe we should be more sympathetic to those who never found any consistency in the lineup.
Is it fair to judge Kolesar’s season the same way as Karlsson’s? What about Janmark to Smith? Even Dadonov, who was cast aside in a salary dump trade that was eventually reverted, does he deserve a bit of a pass?
It’s just another layer to what will be a complicated offseason for the Golden Knights.

I will say Ken you sure have the stats continuity wasn’t our strong suite. Hard to get into a flow when from game to game you don’t know who your line mates are. Your not going to stop injuries but hopefully we don’t have as much problem in 2022-2023. On the flip side playing with an older veteran team I guess they’ll be more susceptible to injury. We’ll see what Sir Kelly has figured out. By the way how about those Rangers that retread coach ain’t doing to bad. Have we found our Knight in shinning armor yet no pun intended.

Yes, indeed!! I have thought that all season, as the injuries piled up. Every game there was this “big shuffle”, scrambling to fill the parade of empty spots. Even our veteran players were shuffled around, as coach searched for lines that worked. IT DIDN’T . When a line gets, maybe a day or two to practice together, IT WON’T WORK. Takes time and familiarity to create consistency. IT JUST COULDN’T WORK. End of season.

@Galdom. Blackhawks Nation on twitter posted that they believe Trotz has a deal with blackhawks May 30. They had Fliwer going to hawks before he was traded to the Hawks. I’m not saying or confirming deal is done but they had fleury correct before he was traded. They probably gave him free run because Rocky kid is filling in Gm and he’ won’t be pressured to win a cup now ! Helps clean up mess they had last season with the shit show player accusations!

1- shut down D man , ever since no. 88 was good in his first two years. VGK has NONE. no. 88 went down hill fast.

4- top Offensive D man (no. 27 is close)
5- one tough body checker

Like everyone I’m watching the playoffs and what you see is speed kills. Edmonton and Colorado were flying last night and except for 2 minutes and 4 seconds when Colorado scored 3 goals would have been 0-0. Calgary won the Jack Adams deservedly so as were the other two finalist from Florida and Gerard Gallant’s Rangers. Gallant was a winner with us and a winner coaching the Canadien under 20 Gold Metal team last winter and now he’s 3 games away from the Stanley Cup finals. I’m so happy for him I watch him on the bench and he looks like a coach who has everything under control. Did you ever get that same feeling from DeBeor? The Splash Brothers just love shaking things up all the time for some reason they think keeping everyone on the edge of there seat is good business. The coaches there looking at will just be yes people so unless they get Q first choice or I reluctantly say Trotz as second choice you can dream all you want but they’ll continue to slide deeper down in the division.
